If you had told me I would be going shopping with the husband, a toddler and a baby I would have laughed in your face. What crazy woman would do that? Well I did. We were invited to The Lexicon, in Bracknell to come and experience the dinosaur activities they’ve got on over the summer. Which meant entertainment for them and shopping time for me. I think we may have solved our shopping crisis.

When we arrived at The Lexicon, there in front of us stood a T-Rex. Measuring 18 metres long, 8 metres tall, it moves and roars, she (I say she because only a woman could be this cool) is the biggest animatronic dinosaur in the UK. We also took part in their dinosaur hunt challenge, where we had to find 10 dinosaurs in various shops around The Lexicon, you have to follow the clues to find them, and you could be in with a chance of winning an amazing prize, a family trip to the Natural History Museum’s Dino Snores! Theo was in his element and so was Mummy!

All the dinosaurs were brilliantly made out of cardboard, and each had a little description about that particular dinosaur. The hardest part of the challenge was pronouncing the names. Whilst Theo and Daddy filled in the blanks on the challenge sheet, Mummy and Baby perused the rails. There is a great range of shops and restaurants which means you can spend the whole day shopping.

The dinosaur events are taking place between now and Monday 26th August 2019. There are also some other activities over the summer such as:

Dino School Taking place from Monday, August 12 until Friday, August 16 2019. These interactive, fun, education sessions in Princess Square are being run in association with The Look Out Discovery Centre, with palaeontology professors, T-Rex & Mrs Bones leading the fun-filled lessons. Lessons will feature demonstrations of dino sounds, movements and mannerisms, as well as the chance to find out all about the fascinating lifestyle and eating habits of dinosaurs. Entry to Dino School is a suggested donation of £2, with all money raised being donated to The Lexicon Charity Fund. All pupils attending a Dino School session will also receive an exclusive voucher for The Look Out Discovery Centre, which entitles one child to free entry to The Dinosaur Show on purchase of an adult ticket (T&Cs apply).

Dino School sessions will take place: 10am, 11am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm. Lexisaurus Rex and Dino Tales On Monday, August 19, Lexisaurus, the town centre’s very own baby dinosaur, will be roaming around Princess Square, on Thursday, August 22 in Union Square and on Monday, August 26 on The Avenue. Lexisaurus will be accompanied by a personal keeper who will be on hand to answer those all-important Dino questions! Younger visitors to The Lexicon will be sure to enjoy the interactive story telling sessions from costumed characters in Princess Square. The interactive Dino Tales will be letting young imaginations run wild by bringing best-selling children’s book, The Dinosaur that Pooped the Planet, to life.

Dino Tales will take place on Tuesday, August 20 and Friday, August 23 with sessions running at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm. Dinosaur Snaps Visitors will be able to recreate personalised Jurassic scenes throughout the T-Rex Encounter by popping their heads through the giant photo-boards, located in Braccan Walk and the other in Princess Square, and taking a picture. Dinosaur Face Painting On Saturdays, keep your eyes peeled for The Lexicon’s team of Dinosaur face painters who will be decorating faces, young and old with a variety of dino-themed designs.

Finally it was time to grab a spot of grub finish our shopping and head home with two sleepy kids and one shopped out Mother. Now that’s a sign of a successful days shopping.

We had a great day at The Lexicon, the dinosaur hunt definitely made our shopping trip the easiest it’s ever been. So if you need some last minute holiday items or your preparing for school and need some school bits then this is the place. Thanks for having us.
