The Hotel is located in the heart of Ascot, only a short distance from Royal Windsor. We arrived early to maximize the time to ourselves and were immediately struck by the most breath-taking view and were immediately met by the warmest of greetings. Before our day started we were shown around, we mainly noted the areas where we could eat and drink, but you cannot go without taking a moment to admire the splendor of our surroundings –stone fireplaces, oil paintings, alongside other contemporary furnishings, even the grounds and secluded garden looked like something from a magazine.
After our brief tour we were finally shown where we would be spending the next few hours of utter relaxation. We were guided downstairs to The Vital Spa & Leisure Club, given our robes and flip-flops before being called in for our pre-booked Elemis massage and facial, 55 minutes of pure “ahhhh”. At the hotel the therapists only use Elemis skincare products during treatments, which smell and feel utterly divine.
The beauty therapists were brilliant all working wonders on our backs (which for us pregnant ones, was much needed), and removing the knots that buggy pushing and baby lifting has caused. This was followed by a revitalising facial, each of us having a different, yet equally as enjoyable experience. Following our treatments we regrouped in the dimly lit relaxation room, on soft beds and under cosy blankets, before heading out to explore the spa facilities.
After our treatments we spent some time enjoying the early spring sunshine in the outdoor Hydro Pool, where for some it was a chance to enjoy the bubbles and heat and overlook the manicured secluded garden. For those sporting bumps, the pool was just the right temperature to warm us while dipping our toes in. We felt well and truly pampered – and all that fresh air had certainly worked up an appetite.
To complete our day we were treated to a preview of the Hotel’s bespoke Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea menu. Presented beautifully on a tiered stand, were an array of delicate sweet and savoury delights, from scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, to cucumber and smoked salmon sandwiches, among other tantalizing morsels – each and every one tasted aaaamazing, there was even a fun Mother’s Day themed puzzle made from chocolate to complete. We did our best to eat the lot but the sweet treats defeated us. We won’t tell you the answer to the puzzle, that would be cheating! The tea was served over looking the Hotel’s sunny Terrace, where we were able to take our glasses of fizz out on to after and enjoy the last of the sunshine before heading home.
It might not quite be Mother’s Day as yet, but this was a well needed girlie Saturday break with mum-friends, and an experience we know all Mothers out there would love, we certainly did! xx
